Gear pullers are used to remove bearings from shafts; they are generally composed of a handle, a screw rod, and claws.

Mechanical pullers are divided into ordinary pullers, German pullers, desktop pullers, Star pullers, American pullers, mini pullers, cassette pullers, beam pullers, separators, bearing pullers, slide hammer pullers, hydraulic pullers, etc. according to their styles. Hydraulic pullers are divided into integrated and split types.

Gear pullers are mainly divided into two claws and three claws. The length, spacing, and screw length of the claws are different, which can adapt to the installation of bearings with different diameters and axial depth requirements.

Gear pullers are mainly divided into two jaws and three jaws. The length, spacing, and screw length of the claws are different, which can adapt to the installation of bearings with different diameters and axial depth requirements.

Pullers are divided into two grades according to their load-bearing capacity: ordinary grade (indicated by P) and reinforced grade (indicated by J). Ordinary grade: ordinary and imitation two- and three-jaw pullers. Reinforced grades are German, desktop high-end, reinforced pullers, etc.

How does a puller work?

When removing the bearing from the shaft, the claws of the puller should act on the inner ring of the bearing so that the disassembly force acts directly on the inner ring of the bearing. When there is not enough space for the puller's claws to act on the inner ring of the bearing, the puller's claws can be applied to the outer ring.

It must be noted that in order to prevent the bearing from being damaged, the wrench should be fixed during disassembly and the entire puller should be rotated to rotate the outer ring of the bearing, so as to ensure that the disassembly force does not act on the same point.

Pullers are preferably made of high-quality steel. However, the alloy steel and non-alloy steel (carbon steel) used should be able to ensure that the required hardness and pass the specified load test according to their chemical composition and heat treatment (quenching and tempering). The surface should not have defects such as cracks, burrs, rust, scale, folds and sharp edges. The adhesion should be firm, smooth and continuous, and there should be no peeling, delamination and missing coating. The surface of the screw should be blackened or phosphated; the surface of the bolts and nuts should be blackened, galvanized or phosphated; the surface of the puller seat should be blackened, galvanized, chrome-plated or phosphated; the assembly of the puller parts should be flexible, and there should be no tightness or looseness.
