VFD drives, also known as ac drives and VFDs, are widely used in HVAC systems, pumps and conveyors. An ac drive controls the rotational speed of an electric alternating current (AC) motor by adjusting both voltage and frequency of the electrical power supplied to the ac motor.
The efficient way of cutting down the electricity cost on these motors is to adjust the frequency or speed of operation for the ac motor when big power AC motor is being used. It is the general purpose of the variable frequency drives (VFD) being used for. Electric motors that do not adjust their frequency are limited to operate at the maximum frequency all the times, even when not so much power demand. The ability to adjust the frequency when less power is needed, and also can achieve full power running of the motor can improve efficiency, electricity savings, and optimize the motor-driven process.
