Flibanserin Powder Description:
ADDYI (flibanserin) is a tablet for oral administration. The chemical name of flibanserin is 2H-Benzimidazol-2-one, 1,3-dihydro-1-[2-[4-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-1-piperazinyl]ethyl]. Its empirical formula is C20H21F3N4O and its molecular weight is 390.41.

Flibanserin is a white to off-white powder, insoluble in water, sparingly soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetonitrile and toluene, soluble in acetone, freely soluble in chloroform, and very soluble in methylene chloride.

Each ADDYI tablet contains 100 mg of flibanserin. Inactive ingredients consist of lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, talc, macrogol, and the coloring agents, titanium dioxide and iron oxide.

ADDYI is indicated for the treatment of premenopausal women with acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), as characterized by low sexual desire that causes marked distress or interpersonal difficulty and is NOT due to:

?

A co-existing medical or psychiatric condition,
Problems within the relationship, or The effects of a medication or other drug substance.
Acquired HSDD refers to HSDD that develops in a patient who previously had no problems with sexual desire. Generalized HSDD refers to HSDD that occurs regardless of the type of stimulation, situation or partner.

Flibanserin (Addyi) is a new drug being investigated for the prevention of HSDD in woman. HSDD, is a relatively new term developed to describe Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder which basically means a woman whose is otherwise healthy has a lacking libido, or a lack of sexual desire.

Studies show that about 10-20% of women face this problem and some say HSDD outnumbers men with sexual problems. Flibanserin is classified as a 5-HT serotonin receptor agonist and a dopamine D4 receptor partial agonist.

It?is?a?Non?Hormonal?agent?that?in?essence?increases?dopamine?and?noradrenalin?while?reducing?Serotonin in the brain. This in return seemingly has a positive effect on a woman& acute;s sexual craving who was otherwise lacking in this area. The benefits of it being Non-Hormonal are that it will not have the problems associated with other hormonal treatments such as a negative altered mood among other issues.

Flibanserin Powder Usages:
This medication is used to treat women who have not gone through menopause who have low sexual desire and are concerned about it.

Flibanserin should not be used to treat low sexual desire caused by: a medical or mental/mood disorder, problems in the relationship, or the effects of other drugs. This medication should not be used by women who have gone through menopause, or by men. Flibanserin is not used to enhance sexual performance.

Precautions:
Before taking flibanserin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: alcohol use, regular use/abuse of drugs/alcohol, liver problems, low blood pressure.

This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness until at least 6 hours after taking flibanserin and until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Avoid alcoholic beverages. (See also Warning section.)

Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).

During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Because of the possible risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
