It exerts high in vitro activity against many strains of Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Neisseria catarrhalis, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis,Bacteroides funduliformis, Salmonellae and Shigellae.
