Fulvestrant Powder Descriptions:
Fulvestrant (Faslodex) is an antagonist of estrogen receptor-α (ERα), a steroid receptor member of the nuclear receptor superfamily of transcription factors, that has been used in the treatment of advanced breast cancer. It is a pure antiestrogen, that is, it has no agonist effects, as distinct from selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) which are capable of context-dependent regulation of the ER.

Fulvestrant injection is used to treat metastatic breast cancer (cancer that has spread) that is hormone-receptor positive in women who have already stopped menstruating (postmenopausal). It is used for women who have breast cancer that has not improved after using other cancer medicines.

Many of the breast cancer tumors will grow when estrogen is available in the body. This medicine blocks the effects of the estrogen hormone in the body. As a result, the amount of estrogen that the tumor is exposed to is reduced, which will limit the growth of the tumor.

Fulvestrant Powder Usages:
Fulvestrant is a selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD).It is indicated for the treatment of hormone receptor positive metastatic breast cancer in postmenopausal women with disease progression following anti-estrogen therapy.

Fulvestrant provides effective second-line therapy in metastatic or locally advanced breast cancer for postmenopausal women who relapse or progress after previous endocrine therapy.

Four clinical trials in this setting showed similar efficacy to the other hormonal agents (aromatase inhibitors and tamoxifen) with good tolerability profile. Fulvestrant had a lower incidence of joint disorders.

Fulvestrant Powder Mechanism of Action:
Many breast cancers have estrogen receptors (ER), and the growth of these tumors can be stimulated by estrogen. Fulvestrant is an estrogen receptor antagonist that binds to the estrogen receptor in a competitive manner with affinity comparable to that of estradiol. Fulvestrant downregulates the ER protein in human breast cancer cells.

In a clinical study in postmenopausal women with primary breast cancer treated with single doses of FASLODEX 15-22 days prior to surgery, there was evidence of increasing down regulation of ER with increasing dose.

This was associated with a dose-related decrease in the expression of the progesterone receptor, an estrogen-regulated protein. These effects on the ER pathway were also associated with a decrease in Ki67 labeling index, a marker of cell proliferation.
